The Scouts & Guides unit at St. Mary’s HSS Morakkala has been a beacon of leadership, service, and skill development since its establishment in June 2002 under the guidance of Ms.Susan Thomas . Over the years, the unit has evolved into a vibrant platform that nurtures young minds with discipline, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility toward society.

Milestones and Achievements

In 2023, our unit reached new heights with Ms. Riya Mathai and Ms. Neethu Maria Varghese completing their Basic Guide Captains Course for UP and High School students. Similarly, Ms. July K. Paul and Ms. Sabiya P. M. successfully completed the Bulbul Basic Course for LP section students. The same year, the Guide Unit was launched with 20 students, while the Bulbul Unit started with 15 students, marking a new era of growth and engagement.

Empowering Students Through Service

At St. Mary’s HSS, the Scouts & Guides go beyond textbooks, embracing real-world challenges and opportunities for personal growth. Their activities include:
Environmental Initiatives – On World Environment Day (June 5th), students planted shade-giving trees in the school premises and conducted an awareness rally to promote environmental responsibility.
Science and Innovation – Our Guides made an exceptional contribution as volunteers at the Kolanchery Sub-District Science Exhibition, showcasing their dedication and organizational skills.
Community Outreach – Observing World Thinking Day (Lokavichinthna Day), our team visited Aashiyana Buds School, Pallikkara, an institution for differently-abled children, spreading warmth and kindness.

Shaping Responsible Citizens

As part of their commitment to social responsibility and safety, the Guides and Bull Buls actively participate in:
Gandhi Jayanti Cleanliness Drive – Ensuring a clean and eco-friendly school environment.
Road Safety Awareness Campaign – Advocating for helmet use among two-wheeler riders for safer travel.
Educational Awareness Programs – Designing and displaying posters on key observance days such as Reading Day, Hiroshima-Nagasaki Day, and more.
